Master of your own reality

These last few weeks I have once again been stopped in my tracks

I get what I call analysis paralysis

An easier way to understand this — my mind and actions move at a snail’s pace

My overthinking mind stops me from making any steps towards progress and I need to rely on my systems to keep me going

So why I am I telling you this?

Because as a creator it’s going to happen to you at some point

You’re going to feel the weight of the world on your shoulders, you will feel immense pressure to produce and you will feel like no matter what you do you arent getting ahead

I’m here to tell you that’s okay

It happens and its happening to me again at this very moment

With that said here’s how I climb out of the abyss:

  1. Remind yourself this is a long game think in decades not days

  2. Reach out to your support system and voice your issues

  3. Do whatever you can to get your creative juices going

  4. Know that you're not the only one

  5. Focus on what you can control

This is the 6 step process I walk through when these feeling begin to creep up…

Trust me they will creep up if you’re at this long enough

So calm your mind, grab a cup of coffee, recenter yourself and go back to the drawing board

My mother always said this quote when I was a child:

“This too shall pass” and like mothers are 99.999% of the time… she is right

Find of the week

My mind has a difficult time staying on task

It’s like a dog on walk seeing a rabbit…

I drop everything I am doing and click the notification button as soon as it lights up

Then it takes me 10-15 minutes to refocus on what I was doing

Well this is where minimal theme for Twitter comes in, it’s a chrome plugin that allows you to be on the app distraction free

Just you, your mind and fingers ready to work

Try it out and I promise you will get everything you need to get done without your mind being bombarded 100 times leaving you with nothing completed

Trend of the week

As the algorithm changes so does the game plan as creators

If you don’t stay on top of what’s working you will begin to fall behind

With that said… I’m seeing short form video as something that is getting a ton of eyeballs on it

One of the best doing it (no surprise here) Dakota Robertson

Let’s take a look at 3 examples:

Dakota is a Twitter OG and when he see something that works he goes hard with it

All of these videos were posted in the last week. Which tells me he is on to something

Twitter may be moving towards favoring short form video content

Keep an eye on your favorite creators over the next month and see if this trend takes off
